Military, Veteran, and First Responder Services
StableStrides offers programs to the 369,000 veterans in Colorado. El Paso County is also home to over 38,000 military members across five major military bases. Add in their family members, and the number is over 500,000. We are also home to thousands of first responders from fire departments, Sherrif’s offices, police stations, and EMS units. Our goal is to take care of our own community! We offer life coaching, suicide prevention with our ASIST specialists, and group sessions to help our military, veterans and first responders deal with the trauma they experience every day and over their long, honorable careers.
“When I came to StableStrides, I was in a bad place. I wanted to end it all. But working with the horses made me realize that I didn’t actually want to check out. I just wanted a place to relieve stress and deal with the moral injury of losing my team in Afghanistan.”

Our horses help clients process feelings, thoughts, and reactions while serving as an emotional mirror. This living relationship between the horse and the client provides a deeper shared experience. Horses are uniquely suited for this kind of work because they are intuitive and will react to behavior patterns and cues that people might miss, allowing the coach and client to interact on a deeper level and address issues that might otherwise go unnoticed.
Our coaches are often veterans themselves, so they understand military and first responder issues like PTS and moral injury.
